Plots/connections/comments/complaints? Yes please! Auryn's new in town, so he's a blank slate, though he may know old families by name as he has immersed himself in esoteric witch trivia.
His background is here. Or, for the quick and wacky version:
His background is here. Or, for the quick and wacky version:
- Auryn always wears a set of dog tags given to him by his father during an early visit to him in foster care. They're pretty obviously charmed but Auryn hasn't looked into it, and doesn't need to. They're almost a part of him at this point and they're the only thing he has of his father.
- He's quite a powerful magic user himself though he hasn't got the finesse he'd like to.
- Auryn would not describe himself as an optimist at all, but it takes a certain kind of optimism to believe in the power of revolution, of resistance, to change, and he does.
- He absolutely, without question, believes in civil disobedience, and he is not a pacifist about it.
- Auryn craves acceptance and love, but he doesn't really believe in it.
- He was in love once, in Montana. He wasn't willing to give up fighting for it though.
- He has a bit of a southern accent: like most things about his childhood he goes to pains to hide it but it kind of gently affects vowels. He speaks very carefully.
- He enjoys debate. He enjoys riling people up and getting them thinking. He would definitely use the term 'riling (someone) up'.
- Auryn gives a person one chance and he does so completely and ends it just as quickly. Doing something that hurts him specifically doesn't always negate that chance, but it's not always explicitly necessary, either.
- He nearly always carries a knife of some sort on his person.
- He's capable with his hands, without the use of magic: he picks up manual skills fast and isn't afraid of hard labor.
- He's been arrested quite a few times but has only a couple convictions, mostly on slap-on-the-wrist charges.

Date: 2014-12-20 01:36 am (UTC)I just really want a plot someday where some dark witch goes after Davin because of his extreme power and the fact that he's like, pure of heart. (But not of mind, badum-tsh~)
Maybe Auryn could have even heard of Davin's family? If he studies and gets all these different artifacts and stuff. In my head they're one of the most powerful magical families out there.
And Davin is like tralalala I can lift stuff with my mind~

Date: 2014-12-20 02:00 am (UTC)I don't really think of Auryn as THAT dark a witch? Unless rigged so that it was like - necessary for some greater good - I don't think he'd do that. But, he could certainly have rubbed elbows with someone who would. (Or, I mean, Nerium if she was having a bad day I guess? She's kind of reluctantly floofy too though.)
But like - Auryn is willing to be violent for sure, but in a Stonewall, hitting police with bottles, or like Harper's Ferry storming the armory kind of way (I mean. in terms of overall motivation: those are the things he'd aspire to and the motivations he has for action). He prooobably wouldn't sort into Slytherin is what I'm saying. His anger is fueled by other people's hatred.
So if he DID fill the dark witch spot it'd have to be for a good reason. BUT conversely he would probably throw someone he liked (or loved!) under the bus if it would help a hundred or a thousand people have freedom. Or himself, to be fair. He sees those things as worth the loss. So he certainly sees the death of a few bigots as worth the loss.
That's a lot of thoughts. All at once, congratulations XD XD
OH BUT
if Davin's family is as powerful as you're thinking, Auryn will almost definitely have heard of them, especially since his family is Irish on the witchy side as well.

Date: 2014-12-20 02:04 am (UTC)But it will be interesting, them getting to know each other. Davin is relatively naive in the way the world feels about magic. In Boston, he didn't know magic was real and his powers hadn't manifested yet, and then he came to Siren Cove. He's really only left to go to Ireland, where he was of course was under his grandmother's protection.

Date: 2014-12-20 02:15 am (UTC)Yeah, I think that aspect of it - Auryn as very jaded, and having traveled all over and studied as much as he could, and Davin as relatively new to his magic and fairly isolated - could be fun to play against each other.

Date: 2014-12-20 02:20 am (UTC)It'll definitely be fun! I'd love to call their dry run thread canon and have him run into Davin in the post where he's beaten up. That would be super interesting!
