Les rephrases the question because if this chapel was on some tourist map that would be the explanation given by the tour guides. They'd tell people that Viviana Coomb's broken heart brought chaos to this town, and it just never left. It's a romantic thing to want to believe. Like Les said, it makes for a good story.
